Nagarakhana (The place for playing drums) - this word originated from "Naqqarakhana". It is a place or corner for sitting the drum instrument (naghara) players. Some people also call it as "Tabil Khana (drum house)" (Tabil is a type of drum).

 

Nagarat (Repeating hemistich) - in a poem, especially in a song, it means a one or more hemistiches which are repeated in the end of each piece of the poem.

Fikri işıqlı oğlum!
Məktəb zamanı gəldi,
Dur, ey vəfalı oğlum!
Ey gözüm, ey canım!
Get məktəbə, cavanım!

Oh my spring and garden!
My intellect son!
It's the school time!
Wake up my loyal son!
Oh my eyes! My life!
Go to school my young son!

In this poem, the hemistiches that are repeated at the end of each piece of the poem is named as Repeating hemistich.

 

Naggal (The narrator, the minstrel) - is a person who narrates an Azerbaijani narrative, funny story and dastan (story).

 

Naggalbashi (Beginning Story) - it's a nickname given by the governors and kings to the outstanding narrators (minstrels) whereby the right to play their instrument and telling a story had also been given to them.

 

Nagil (Story, narrative) - it is one of epical genres of folkloric public literature. They are usually composed in prose form and, sometimes, in the form of poem. Since the ancient era, the Azerbaijani people have composed a lot of narrations aiming publication of patriotism, heroism, and noble human characters. When minstrels are narrating a story like "Malikmammad", "Agh Atli Oghlan (the guy with white horse)", "Dashdamir", "Nardan Khatun (Mrs. Nardan)" etc., they often use the phrase of, "I'm narrating" and then begin the narration of the story.

 

Nagil mejlisi (The narrative meeting) - it is a kind of play populated between the people and tribes a "one-player-scene".

 

Nagilbashı (The chief narrator, the chief minstrel) - it's a funny story normally told in a session held for narration of a story or narration before begging the narration of the main story.
Najafi - it's original name is "Yungul Sharili (the light Sharili). It is played in shah (king) gut fret of general tune.

 

Nakhchivani - it relates to the Azerbaijani city of Nakhchivan. It is played in Urfani tune, in the form of composed poem.

 

Name (The letter) - in a wider meaning it generally means the written letter. A letter with a specific subject.

 

Nasihatnama (Letter of admonition) - it's a type of artwork in eastern culture including in Azerbaijani culture dealing with educational and disciplinary written both in poem and prose forms. The letter of admonition (nasihatnama) is highly dependent on the person narrating it and even on the wise speaking prevailing among the people. One of the samples of letter of admonition is a poem written by Azerbaijani classic poet, S.A.Shirvani – Oyud. Such type of poem is also told by Shiqs and, sometimes, they write such a form of poem.

 

Nazira (Imitative poem) - It is a work created inspired by a writer or another literary work similar to that style. Any imitative poem, which is written for any classic work, will not necessarily cover all aspects of the main classic work rather it will deal with its subject or subject and story. In this case, the metre and composition of the two works may be similar or different from each other. Such imitative poems are also seen in Ashyg art. In the Ashyg Art it's called "Qabaq". It means an imitative poem that created in the same metre and rhyme of another work written in the past.

 

Negme (Song) - 1. In the old Azerbaijani classic music it means: a) the mugham; b) the melody of the song.
2. Song. The simplest and most extensively populated form of a vocal music in a song lyric.
3. In musical modal system (dastgah) is vocal-musical episodes between the intonation interval of some gushes. Eg. Dashti song (in Shur modal system), Shushtar song (in Humayun modal system of mugham etc.).

 

Nigab (Veil ) - it is face cover used for the main theme.

 

Nisba (Relation) - it means the word used in relation with pen name, nickname or name of the poetry which indicated the hometown of the poet. A lot of poets have used Nisba as their pen name. For example, Nizami Ganjavi (relates to Ganja City in Azerbaijan), Sadi Shirazi (related to Shiraz City in Iran), etc. This is also common among Ashygs.

 

Nogtesiz tajnis (Pun, paronomasia) - a type of poem in which no words with point (in their Arabic alphabet) are used.

 

Note - (Lat.: Nota - note, mention) the notes used for different music hints; It is written in the form of filled or empty oval shapes and different elements are added to it. The graphical image of a note denotes the length, its location on 6-line note book, and the pitch of the voice.

 

Names of melodies related to the flora and nature – Borchali chicheyi (Borchali flower), Native lands' mountains, Gamishli, Ganja flower, Gazakh sabzasi (vegetables), rose, Mountains, as snow in mountains, Kavari, tulip, Mikhayi (Pinks), yellow nightingale, yellow flower, Orta shashangi, yellow soil, Susenberi (Iris), Turaji (partridge), three flowers, Jidir flower (Race flower).
